The horses used are an exemplary class of Spanish, Arabic and English breeds of which are bred with the best of care and disciplined without violence in their training to guarantee their docility and strength in all types of terrain. Certified guides along with support staff will schedule the tours and take care of every detail to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK - HORSEBACK RIDING TOUR

DAY TOUR • HORSEBACK RIDING EXPERIENCE

What to bring:

Warm clothing in layers (páramo climate can change rapidly)
Waterproof / windproof jacket and rain poncho
Sturdy closed-toe shoes or riding boots
Gloves, warm beanie/hat, and UV protection sunglasses
Sunscreen and camera

TOUR ITINERARY:

We depart from Quito at 07:00 AM traveling south along the Avenue of the Volcanoes towards the Cotopaxi National Park. Upon arrival at the traditional hacienda at the foot of the volcano, we will meet our local chagra (Andean cowboy) guides and match riders with well-trained, sure-footed mountain horses.

Our ride takes us across volcanic plains, ancient lava flows, and pristine highland paramo grasslands with breathtaking panoramic views of the Cotopaxi cone, Rumiñahui, Sincholagua, and Pasochoa. We will observe wild horses, Andean birds, and diverse high-altitude flora.

After approximately 3 to 4 hours in the saddle, we return to the hacienda for a delicious traditional hot lunch before returning to Quito in the afternoon.
